Sebaaieni Cave

Sebaaieni Cave

Image 1 of 3

Location:

Cathedral Peak Wilderness Area, lower northern Drakensberg. Because of its valuable Bushman paintings, this cave is not marked on the maps of the area but its location is generally well known. It is across the Ndedema River from the campsites at the bottom of Phillip’s Folly. It lies within the range of day-trippers from the top of Mike’s Pass and within easy reach of bored campers, and as a result has been heavily vandalised. To add to the damage, a message appealing to the opposite of human nature to preserve the paintings has been written on the wall near the paintings!

WARNING! It is a serious offence to stay overnight in this cave because of its numerous Bushman paintings. This is generally the case for any cave containing large numbers of Bushman paintings.
